Elder, a native European deciduous tree bears oval leaves and cream-colored flowers that bring purplish blue elderberries in autumn. Long used by the Druids, this plant became known as "Nature's medicine chest" for treating upper respiratory infections and fevers. Raspberry leaf has long been used in herbal medicine for hundreds of years as a astringent and stimulant. Raspberry leaf derives from the raspberry bush containing woody stems with thorns, pale green leaves, white flowers, and delicious edible red berries. Medicinally, the leaf is used and is a rich source of Vitamin C, iron, and niacin. Raspberry leaf has been traditionally used as a reproductive tonic assisting with toning and relaxing pelvic and uterine muscles for the beginning of labor and to reduce bed-wetting. Raspberries astringent properties and tannins help assist with the healing of oozing burns and inflammation in throat due to sore throats.
